Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met in Beijing with Marianne Sivertsen Næss, Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries of Norway, on Nov. 8. They exchanged views on deepening China–Norway pragmatic cooperation in agriculture and fishery.

Minister Han noted that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China and Norway have maintained close and productive interactions in agriculture and fishery. As a major producer, consumer, and trading power in agriculture and fishery, China hopes to strengthen exchange and cooperation with Norway in areas such as green and sustainable aquaculture, marine resource conservation and utilization, combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and promoting economic and trade cooperation in agriculture and fishery. China also hopes to share its experience in sustainable agricultural development with Norway.

Minister Næss spoke highly of China–Norway relations and the prospects for cooperation in agriculture and fishery. She said Norway hopes to work with China to further improve fishery cooperation mechanisms and take concrete measures to enhance pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

Zhang Zhili, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the meeting.
