Minister Han noted that in recent years, China and Brunei have earnestly implemented the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and the Sultan of Brunei, Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzadin Waddaulah, on strengthening cooperation in the agriculture and fisheries, leading to notable achievements in areas such as rice production and fishery development. Minister Han reiterated China's readiness to deepen technological exchanges and enhance economic and trade cooperation with Brunei in these fields. He further expressed China's commitment to assisting Brunei in advancing agricultural technologies, particularly in hybrid rice cultivation, with the aim of achieving more fruitful outcomes earlier.
Minister Manaf extended his gratitude for China's support in hybrid rice and other areas. He expressed Brunei's aspiration to draw from China’s experience in agriculture and fisheries to bolster the country's self-sufficiency in food production and key agricultural products.
Following their discussions, Minister Han and Minister Manaf signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism of Brunei Darussalam.
Chief Agronomist Pan Wenbo was also present during the meeting.
